Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Scranton hosts an initial Bishop’s dinner in Williamsport.
Over 20 people attended a dinner with Bishop Bambera at the John Ryan Brewery in Williamsport. Catholic Foundation board member, Paul Rooney, hosted the event. The Bishop provided attendees with an overview of the Catholic Foundation and the goals for the next several years. Executive Director for the Catholic Foundation, Mark DiPippa, shared information about the great wealth transfer that will happen in the next 5 years. According to the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, more than $418 billion is expected to transfer between generations across the Commonwealth by 2030.



Lycoming County has an estimated $2.2 billion and Tioga County has an estimated $510 million. DiPippa shared that he would like to see parishioners and friends of the Diocese of Scranton commit to allocating at least 5% of their wealth in their estate plans to the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Scranton. Joe Strubeck, Secretary for Development for the Diocese of Scranton shared the progress of the Catholic Ministries Appeal. Father Gerald Shantillo offered the blessing on the meal and the attendees enjoyed wonderful conversation until the evening closed.
